St. Patrick Regional Secondary in Vancouver is seeking a full-time Educational Assistant to support students with IEPs and inclusive learning plans for the 2026–2027 school year.

You will collaborate with lead teachers and families, implement assistive technology, and assist with personal care and mobility while upholding Catholic values and a positive classroom culture.

JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION: EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANT

Term: Full-Time, September 2026 to June 2027

Core Competencies & Specific Qualities:

• Educational Assistant Diploma: Post-secondary diploma/credential in Educational Support or Special Education, with knowledge of IEP implementation and inclusive learning strategies.
• Faith-Centered Empathy & Culture: Commitment to serving as a positive Christian role model, nurturing dignity and spiritual growth in alignment with Catholic values and the school’s mission.
• Communication & Assistive Tech Skills: Proficient in interpreting non-verbal cues and integrating communication tools (AAC devices or visual schedules) into daily routines.
• Collaborative & Adaptable: Proven ability to work seamlessly with lead teachers, families, and multi-disciplinary teams while pivoting quickly as classroom needs change.

Responsibilities will include:

• Execute IEP & Learning Support: Deliver tailored curriculum adaptations and academic support to individual students or small groups as directed by the Learning Support Services Coordinator and/or classroom teacher(s).
• Foster Social-Emotional Development: Apply positive behavior management, co-regulation support, and de-escalation techniques to ensure a safe, inclusive environment.
• Assist with Personal Care & Mobility: Support learners with specialized mobility equipment, sensory tools, and daily personal care/hygiene needs as required.
• Classroom Logistics & Supervision: Help prepare learning materials and provide active learner supervision during instruction, transitions, break, and lunch.
