Job summary

Durham District School Board (DDSB) is seeking a Business Application Analyst to bridge business needs with IT, ensuring data accuracy, regulatory reporting, and streamlined processes within education systems. You will gather requirements, translate them into specs, and support system enhancements across multiple departments.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in information technology, computer science, information systems, or related field.
• Certification in IT service management, business analysis, project management, or data privacy is an asset.
• Minimum 5 years of application and development support experience.
• Minimum 5 years of application/business analysis experience.
• Minimum 3 years of project management and leadership experience.
• Minimum 2 years familiarity with school enrolment procedures (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with business units to gather, document, and validate business requirements.
• Translate business needs into functional and technical specifications.
• Facilitate meetings, workshops, and discussions with stakeholders across departments.
• Provide guidance and support to users on business processes, system functionality, and best practices.
• Act as a liaison between business stakeholders, IT teams, and external partners.
• Analyze, validate, and ensure integrity of organizational data across systems.
• Coordinate, validate and support submission of ministry, regulatory, and other data collections and reporting requirements.
• Interpret and apply business rules, policies, and regulatory requirements to data collection and reporting processes.
• Ensure data submissions supporting funding, accountability, audit, and compliance obligations are complete and meet standards.
• Investigate data discrepancies and perform root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Develop and maintain documentation related to data definitions, reporting procedures, and compliance requirements.
• Provide second-level support for business applications, including troubleshooting and coordination with stakeholders.
• Develop and maintain user documentation, training materials, and support resources.
• Evaluate and recommend system enhancements and process improvements.
