Reports To: Band Manager
Full Time Position: Yes
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervises the efficient and effective day-to-day operations of the education program, including all department and programs current or as they are created and implemented.
- Identifies and partners with a variety of organizations to formulate joint special projects which would enhance the delivery of existing programs and services to community members.
- Complete the nominal roll for both elementary and secondary students
- Arrange transportation for students JK to Grade 12
- Apply and provide reporting for any ISC education related project funding
- Apply, provide reporting, and supervise for any summer student project funding and adhere to all provincial/federal policies and directives
- Offer support/correspondence of any band education/training initiatives as they arise
- Work with Portfolio holder and coordinate record meetings with Education Committee
- Attend meetings with schools regarding student development on an as needed basis
- Encourage parent/guardian participation in student’s academic and attendance record
- Responsible for submitting all reports to funders
- Coordinate placements and provide oversight for the High-Cost Special Education Assistants
- Ensures that all business and operational transactions are conducted in a responsible, confidential and ethical manner
- Reports directly to the Band Manager
Qualifications:
- Ability to understand financial data
- Ability to work independently and build effective interpersonal relationships
- Ability to make decisions that improve the management of First Nation resources
- Ability to work collaboratively with co-workers and external colleagues in the establishing of goals & strategies
- Proficiency in the use of computer programs for word processing, databases, spreadsheets, email and the internet
- Ability to self-regulate, meet deadlines, have attention to detail
- Ability to manage conflict and manage change
- Recognizes and respects all cultural diversity and understands Indigenous culture.
- Experience supervising and managing staff as well as developing and managing budgets
- Knowledge of financial and reporting requirements (i.e. ISC requirements)
- Knowledge of the Treaty 3 area and our Traditional Governance System (ACC)
- Travel to other related organization and locations will be required
