Socket.dev in Canada is seeking a General Manager to lead the branch, overseeing sales, operations, admin and warehouse functions. You will shape the branch vision, culture and performance, manage direct and indirect reports, and align with Support Services and the Executive Team to sustain overall objectives.

You will recruit, develop and motivate staff, drive revenue and margin, manage budgeting, and ensure safety and quality standards across site, warehouse and field activities.

Job description

Role:

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the General Manager will be responsible to lead and manage the branch including sales management, operations, administration, and warehouse including creating and managing the branch vision & culture. This individual will be involved in the selection, development, leadership, motivation, coaching, and management of his/her direct and indirect reports. In addition, the General Manager will be aligned with Support Services and the Executive Leadership Team to ensure overall vision is maintained.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible to lead, develop and manage the Branch resources, creating a culture that is rooted in safety, excellent customer service and a drive for results.
  • Recommend and implement necessary action to improve revenue generation and profitability within the branch and any satellite offices.
  • Deliver on branch margin and profitability targets.
  • Evaluate branch expenditures ensuring controllable expenses remain within monthly budget guidelines.
  • Work closely with corporate credit & collections to ensure that all procedures are properly carried out and branch A/R is collected in a timely manner.
  • Working with the branch sales team, develop market strategies to target potential customers in each channel.
  • Utilizing feedback from the branch sales team and customer contacts, determine customer needs and competitive pricing requirements.
  • Support and promote company-wide sales initiatives and ensure national account service requirements for the branch are met.
  • Maintain positive customer relationships, for CDS, in collaboration with and support of the sales team.
  • Identify, monitor and manage customer service standards, including timeliness and professionalism.
  • Mentor, coach and support the Field Operations Manager to deliver on direct labour utilization, margin and customer satisfaction metrics within the department.
  • Proactively support the CDS safety program and initiatives, comply with all safety policies and procedures (including customer site specific programs), and ensure utilization of safe work practices on site, in the warehouse and office.
  • Support the Warehouse Manager in development and maintenance of procedures to manage inventory turns, min-max levels, shipping and receiving, vendor warranty, and local purchasing.
  • Execute timely communication though regular meetings with branch employees, adhering to a minimum standard of the corporate and branch governance schedule.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and communication style with customers and employees in all circumstances.

  • 12+ years of progressive experience, with 5+ years in a management capacity
  • Experience in industry with a service and installation or distribution company, preferably in a construction environment
