Position Summary:

As a Safety, Health & Environmental leader, you will be responsible for championing the SH&E function for a high-volume packaging operation. This is a key position of the Site Leadership Team in the Safety, Health & Environmental Sustainability area of expertise. The primary objective of the role is to protect and improve the safety of our employees and our site’s environmental sustainability through prevention, fostering a culture of caring where safety, health, and environmental sustainability are ingrained as core values.

In addition to overall input to corporate and site SH&E sustainability initiatives, strategies, programs, and procedures, responsibilities include supporting the facilities via hands-on counsel, supervision, assessment, and implementation of:

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Site SH&E Culture – Actively participate in the Site Leadership Team and effectively lead, coach, and develop managers and line leaders across all functions to be effective SH&E leaders and coaches in their respective roles.
  2. SH&E Performance – Partner with the site leadership team to develop SH&E key priorities, drivers, and activities with KPIs to drive performance improvement.
  3. Compliance – Ensure sites maintain a continuous “audit-ready” state of compliance with company SH&E policies, procedures, and all applicable external regulatory requirements.
  4. Strategies, Programs, and Plans – Develop best-in-class SH&E programs, systems, and processes, including training and mentoring to establish clear procedures on SH&E measures and precautions.
  5. Risk Assessment and Elimination – Lead the effective implementation and utilization of risk assessment and prediction processes to identify and mitigate hazards, ensuring effective communication and understanding among all employees.
  6. Incident Investigation – Ensure investigation of all SH&E-related incidents using tools to identify root causes and prevent recurrence.
  7. Injury and Case Management – Ensure actions to prevent recurrence are effectively implemented and that injury case management processes are well-understood and functioning.
  8. Capability Building – Develop SH&E talent through active support, coaching, and feedback, aiming to prepare individuals for more challenging roles.
  9. Technical Support – Provide technical expertise and coaching across all SH&E initiatives.
  10. Strategic Input – Contribute to site SH&E sustainability initiatives, strategies, programs, and procedures.
Experience & Education Requirements:
  1. Bachelor's Degree in a scientific or engineering field, or significant SH&E professional experience in lieu of a degree.
  2. At least 5 years of experience in SH&E roles, with recent experience as a site SH&E leader or in a similar capacity within manufacturing or production environments.
  3. Professional certifications such as CSP, CIH, OHST, NEBOSH are advantageous.
  4. Knowledge of ISO 14001 & ISO 45001, LEAN, TPM, OSHA, EPA, DOT regulations.
  5. Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills, capable of working in a fast-paced environment and influencing diverse stakeholders.
  6. Proficiency with Windows applications and ability to master specialized software.
  7. Proven ability to drive organizational change and build cross-functional teams.
