What We Need

The senior data scientist will lead high-value workstreams within the Actuarial and Analytics Solutions (AAS) department, involved in all phases from ideation to deployment. Responsibilities include developing models and analytics to support medical economics, payment integrity, and finance, implementing advanced program measurements with statistical analysis, and developing predictive modeling use cases. Mentorship to junior data scientists and analysts is also expected.

Ideal candidates are experts in cutting-edge data science techniques, with healthcare data experience, especially claims, being highly desirable. The role involves collaboration with Business Owners, Product Managers, Data Scientists, and Software Engineers to understand problems and co-develop solutions.

Your Day-to-Day

1. Lead research, design, and implementation of data science solutions aligned with business needs.
2. Develop strategies for complex data problems and trends.
3. Design new approaches and methodologies to solve problems or improve efficiency.
4. Apply statistical techniques to analyze noisy or messy data.
5. Generate insights and recommendations by synthesizing data from various sources.
6. Build and deploy new data models and pipelines.
7. Create impactful dashboards and visualizations.
8. Stay updated on emerging trends and incorporate them into solutions.
9. Coordinate with departmental leaders to ensure data consistency and transparency.
10. Communicate analysis and financial impacts effectively to senior leadership.

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of healthcare delivery and health plan operations, including Medical Economics, Trend Management, Pricing, and Provider Payment Methodologies.
• Experience with machine learning, statistical techniques, data interpretation, and deploying predictive models.
• Effective communication skills across organizational levels.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Customer-focused with a collaborative approach.
• Creative problem-solving skills and strategic thinking.
• Proficiency in Python, SQL, Tableau, R, SAS, or similar software.
• Experience with cloud analytics platforms, preferably Snowflake.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and IT collaboration.

Education and Experience

• Minimum five years of healthcare data analysis and solution development experience.
• Claims data experience is a major plus.
• BA/BS required; advanced degrees (MS, MPH, PhD) considered in lieu of experience.
