Area Quality Development Manager - Americas

The Wärtsilä Energy Business – Americas team has a vacancy for an Area Quality Development Manager.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the Area Quality Improvement initiatives, supporting regions with expertise on Quality and Management Systems.
  • Manage the Area Quality Development Team to support Business Line, Business Unit, and Global initiatives.
  • Develop programs to improve competence and reduce costs of non-conformities using contemporary Quality Management, Assurance, and Control concepts.
  • Drive continuous improvement in AMER through coaching, facilitation, and analysis using the WCI model.
  • Assess quality data, identify trends, and develop improvement plans.
  • Champion the Root Cause Analysis as-a-service program.
  • Represent AMER in global quality and management systems working groups.
  • Act as the key contact for Quality development, implementation, monitoring, and training activities in the Area.
  • Review, update, and implement global procedures as part of the global Management Systems Working Team.
  • Coordinate with external certification bodies for ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, SA8000, and customer-specific certifications.
  • Support local organizations in customer complaint cases requiring escalation or global support.
  • Ensure management system adequacy and development aligned with global directives.
  • Manage certification processes for new acquisitions and divestitures.
  • Oversee audit planning and follow-up, providing feedback for improvements.
  • Lead internal audits as a lead auditor and trainer.
  • Develop and maintain Area documentation, ensuring legal and language compliance.
  • Implement yearly Area-wide training plans to enhance QEHS competence.
  • Ensure compliance with regional EHS legal requirements.
  • Manage group sustainability reporting processes and improvements.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in engineering, manufacturing, or quality.
  • 5–10 years of experience in QA and QC within manufacturing, services, or related industries.
  • Understanding of management systems and business needs.
  • Proven ability to lead change in a global, multi-functional environment.
  • Excellent influencing and communication skills across cultures and regions.
  • Positive, hands-on, solution-oriented approach and strong relationship-building skills.
