Job description

Brandt is currently looking for a Heavy Equipment Technician - Material Handling for our Regina location. The Heavy Equipment Technician - Material Handling independently performs diagnostics, service, maintenance, and repair work on customer and/or dealer-owned equipment efficiently. Resolves customer issues promptly to ensure satisfaction.

Duties & Responsibilities

Financial Performance:

1. Work within budgets and approvals provided by the Service Manager.
2. Maintain high productivity, efficiency, and gross margin.
3. Achieve a work quality metric of 98% (work completed correctly the first time).

Work Systems and Procedures:

1. Accurately record all work for customer and warranty records.
2. Maintain current product knowledge relevant to industry/branch equipment.
3. Keep a clean, neat, and organized work area.
4. Follow all safety rules and regulations, maintaining a thorough understanding of Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) standards to ensure a safe environment for all.
5. Ensure proper disposal of hazardous waste materials.
6. Work within the guidelines set by managers and directors.
7. Perform all assigned service tasks as directed by the Material Handling Service Manager or Foreman.
8. Participate in service training programs to develop skills and knowledge, including industry-specific technologies.
9. Maintain and care for department tools, equipment, and vehicles.
10. Mentor and oversee apprentices.

Diagnostic and Mechanical, Electrical, or Hydraulic Repair:

1. Perform diagnostics on power equipment to determine repair needs.
2. Diagnose and repair related systems, including disassembly, assembly, and repair.
3. Conduct inspections as required by customers, manufacturers, or government agencies.
4. Perform preventative maintenance on equipment such as forklifts, stackers, electric carts, electric tow trucks, and transporters.
5. Use tools like drill presses, grinders, air compressors, and hand/power tools for maintenance and repairs.
6. Prepare reports and forms related to job assignments, including submitting Work Orders immediately upon job completion.
