Your Opportunity:
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital team of Pediatrics & NICU in a Clinical Educator role. The primary purpose of this position is to support the ongoing continuing education of staff related to the Pediatrics and NICU at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital. This role requires specialized expertise in order to provide resources, consultation and maintain competencies within these areas of practice. A broad perspective is required for complex problem solving as well as collaborative work with other departments. The expectations of this role are to work independently balanced with the ability to work collaboratively in teams for project work. Seeking information on best practice, determining implementation methods using innovative solutions, identifying and overcoming barriers, and the development of procedures to reflect best practice are also expectations of the position. As an instructor, you will be an expert practitioner and key educator. You will take a leadership role in the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of education for nursing staff including orientation, compulsory and continuing education, and clinical development. You will collaborate with management and internal partners to promote standards of clinical, educational and evidence informed practice. Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:
Baccalaureate in Nursing required. 3-5 years recent experience in Pediatric and/or NICU nursing. Greater than 1-year clinical patient experience in Pediatric nursing and NICU nursing respectively. Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Demonstrated written and verbal communication. Ability to use principles of time management and effective problem solving. Communication skills and ability to adapt communication style to meet the needs of various learners. Demonstrated organization and prioritization skills. Demonstrated leadership skills. Demonstrated skills in conflict management. Strong written and verbal communication. Ability to safeguard AHS information as private and confidential. Ability to follow and adhere to AHS policies, procedures, goals and objectives.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master degree preferred. Greater than 1 year experience education experience. Current NRP certification. Current PALS certification. Excellent written and oral communication, including strong presentation/speaking skills. Involvement in developing/delivering and implementing educational programs or initiatives with adult learners. Understanding and demonstrated ability to apply adult teaching principles. Knowledge of the principles of quality improvement.
