Salary range: $75,000-$95,000 commensurate with experience

Term: Full-time permanent (37.5 hours/week)

Location: National Capital Region

Language Requirements: English, with French being a strong asset

About the Position

The HR Generalist plays a central role in managing Tree Canada’s HR practices and processes and supporting the overall HR function in a growing organization. Your primary focus will be prioritizing HR projects while ensuring seamless HR operations. You will work closely with people leaders and employees to enhance the employee experience and contribute to a high performing, collaborative culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • HR Support and Employee Relations: Foster positive working relationships and serve as a trusted resource for employees and people leaders.
  • HR Systems & Processes: Establish clear HR processes and transactional procedures. Maintain accurate and secure employee records. Optimize HR systems and tools for efficiency and accuracy.
  • Employee Lifecycle Management: Oversee employee onboarding and offboarding, including conducting exit interviews and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Performance Management: Coordinate and track a performance management framework including goal setting, feedback collection, and support for performance management conversations.
  • Recruitment & Talent Acquisition: Lead end-to-end recruitment efforts, including sourcing, screening, interviewing, and onboarding top talent that aligns with our organizational culture.
  • HR Policy & Compliance: Assist in developing and administering policies, programs, strategies and best practices that align with employment standards.
  • Compensation & Benefits: Support compensation planning and salary administration to ensure fairness and market competitiveness.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Human Resources Management or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of HR experience, ideally in a non-profit, mission driven work environment. CHRP or CHRL designation is considered an asset.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English is a must, with the ability to communicate effectively in French being a strong asset to the role.
  • Proven interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with a proactive and self-motivated approach.
  • Must possess exemplary organizational and problem-solving skills and a willingness to work in a fast-paced and multi-priority environment
  • High ethical standards and the ability to work with sensitive information in a confidential manner.
  • Proven ability to navigate and resolve workplace issues with professionalism and discretion. You have a passion for the environment and the work of Tree Canada.
