Town of Rocky Mount Employment Opportunities

The Town of Rocky Mount is searching for a pool of qualified applicants for the position of full-time Maintenance Worker I in our Public Works Department. Duties of the position include but are not limited to sanitation collection, general maintenance and repairs to public streets and sidewalks, public buildings, water and sewer lines, property maintenance, and other duties as assigned. Experience in the operation of heavy equipment is a plus. Completion of high school degree or equivalent is required. Must be able to read and understand written work orders and oral instructions. Class A or B commercial driver’s license is required at the time of hiring or must be able to obtain one within 6 months of employment.

Competitive pay and excellent fringe benefits such as health, dental, and vision coverage for the employee only paid for by the employer, eligible for a contribution of up to $600 by the employer towards a flexible spending account, and begin accruing 6.50 hours every two weeks of paid time off (PTO). The Town participates in the VRS retirement system and offers an additional elective retirement plan, as well as other elective insurance.
