Job description

Under general supervision, the Clerk Dispatcher is responsible for performing general clerical duties and operating radio and telephone equipment.

Because the Authority serves the public 24 hours a day, employees in this role are expected to work overtime as needed and may be required to accept short-notice overtime during emergencies or unusual conditions.

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Responsibilities:
  1. Assist engineering staff with daily clerical work, including typing correspondence, maintaining records and files.
  2. Compute employee work hours, update master timesheets, and route to payroll.
  3. Prepare accident reports and other departmental reports.
  4. Manage work order schedules and processing.
  5. Assist with customer issues, complaints, and concerns related to work order installation and cost estimates.
  6. Operate a two-way radio occasionally.
  7. Perform field assignments occasionally.
  8. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Good knowledge of office procedures related to the assigned office.
  • Proficiency in English, spelling, and arithmetic.
  • Knowledge of data entry methods and computer equipment.
  • Ability to plan and complete work independently.
  • Effective interpersonal skills with the public and colleagues.
  • Ability to operate adding machines, copy machines, and computer terminals.
  • Strong arithmetic skills and clear written and oral communication.
  • Ability to review documents for accuracy and completeness.

Minimum requirements include a High School diploma or equivalent, with coursework in commercial subjects, and either five (5) years of clerical experience with a utility firm or three (3) years of experience as a Dispatcher.
