Job Summary

As the leader of the healthcare team, provides professional nursing care, utilizing the nursing process in accordance with established standards of care, policies, and procedures. Demonstrates performance consistent with the Medical Center Vision, Mission, and Strategic Plan of the organization. Remains flexible to changing systems; demonstrates quality and effectiveness in work habits and clinical practice; and treats co-workers, patients, families, and all members of the healthcare team with dignity and respect.

  • Ensures multidisciplinary planning, consultation, and education are included.
  • Adapts care plans based on ongoing patient assessments and conditions.
  • Communicates care plans effectively with patients and families, ensuring understanding and timely completion.
  • Monitors patient progress and revises plans as needed.
  • Ensures standards of practice are met and discharge planning is effective, including patient education.
  • Ensures patient safety, pain management, and comfort, and discusses patient concerns and anxieties.
Documentation
  • Ensures accurate, legible, and timely charting.
  • Documents nursing interventions and evaluations effectively.
  • Uses computer systems efficiently for optimal patient care.
Clinical Outcomes
  • Discusses patient findings and progress with the healthcare team.
  • Demonstrates competency during probation and ongoing validation.
  • Makes comprehensive nursing decisions based on data interpretation and patient outcomes.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities.
Workplace Safety
  • Adheres to workplace safety principles and practices.
  • Maintains a safe environment using standard precautions.
Patient Care Experience
  • Practices customer service standards.
  • Responds promptly to patient requests and alarms.
