Stockroom Clerk Key Responsibilities:
- Receiving deliveries: When a company receives its merchandise, the stockroom clerk ensures proper unloading, unwrapping, organizing, and inspecting of the goods for quality. They ensure that the goods supplied correspond with those the company ordered and record incoming shipments.
- Performing quality checks: Stockroom clerks also inspect the goods to ensure they meet up with the company's quality standards. They accept those that pass the quality check and reject those that don't for replacement.
- Maintaining inventory: Stockroom clerks ensure inventory levels are accurate through regular counts and reports. They conduct regular inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies. They keep a comprehensive list of goods that are required for the proper maintenance of the manufacturing equipment. They also compile and present changes in inventory to supervisors and managers for appropriate action.
- Tagging goods: Stock clerks are responsible for labelling items clearly and maintain accurate records.
- Maintaining internal flow: Stockroom Clerks monitor stock levels, report low inventory to supervisors and oversee the sorting and movement of goods within a company.

- Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional training or certifications in inventory management is a plus.
- Previous experience in a stockroom, warehouse, or inventory-related role is preferred.
- Proficiency in using inventory software and basic computer skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Physical ability to lift, move, and handle heavy items.

- Computer literacy: CFP currently use an application software called Guide TI to manage the inventory. The ability to use a computer comfortably is necessary to meet the responsibilities of the job quickly and accurately. Touch-typing skills can be useful for speedy data entry.
- Basic calculation skills: Inventory management requires basic calculation skills to monitor the inflow and outflow of items or goods. The ability to make quick additions, subtractions, multiplications and calculate percentages is crucial to accomplishing the tasks of the Stockroom Clerk.
- Good memory: A retentive memory is essential for the stock clerk to be successful in their roles. The ability to recall information quickly can help locate and retrieve items upon request. Supervisors and managers may also depend on the Stockroom Clerk for information on current inventory on short notice.
- Communication skills: Stockroom Clerks require strong written and verbal communication skills to excel in their roles. They often interface with management, vendors and colleagues, and the ability to convey their thoughts and ideas in a clear, easy-to-understand manner is essential. These professionals often prepare reports that they submit to their supervisors and managers. They may also communicate important information about delivered goods to vendors.
- Attention to detail: Attention to detail is the efficient dedication of cognitive resources that ensures thoroughness and accuracy in the completion of tasks.
