WSP is currently seeking a Junior Geotechnical Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to join our Geotechnical Team based in our Prince George and Terrace offices.

As a Junior Geotechnical EIT, you will support intermediate and senior geotechnical engineers on various projects throughout Yukon Territory, British Columbia, and beyond. Our professionals provide leadership, mentoring, and opportunities to develop in diverse geotechnical practice areas.

The position may involve significant time out of town on field assignments.

Responsibilities
  1. Providing technical services in both field and office environments;
  2. Assisting in materials-related projects, including field testing of construction materials and in-situ density testing;
  3. Performing laboratory testing in our CCIL certified materials laboratory at Prince George;
  4. Conducting construction site reconnaissance, inspections, and observations;
  5. Carrying out fieldwork such as subsurface investigations, supervising drill rigs/excavators, logging boreholes/test pits, site surveying, sampling soil/groundwater, and preparing site sketches;
  6. Using specialized equipment and software for analyses, reports, and technical drawings;
  7. Summarizing findings from investigations and lab tests for report writing;
  8. Collaborating with local and regional WSP teams across various disciplines.
Qualifications
  • University or equivalent education in Geotechnical/Civil Engineering;
  • Enjoys fieldwork and autonomous work environments;
  • Access to a vehicle, a clean Driver's Abstract, and proficiency in MS Office;
  • Experience attending active construction sites is an asset;
  • Strong report writing and communication skills;
  • 0 to 5 years of relevant experience in geotechnical/geological engineering;
  • Desire to work for a leading global geotechnical consulting firm and grow within a dynamic team.
Compensation

Salary range in British Columbia: $71,500 - $98,300. Final salary depends on education, experience, skills, location, and organizational needs. The range may be adjusted for business reasons.
