Administrative Support / Health Unit Aide - (207863)

Locations: Gabriola Island Health Centre, Ladysmith Community Health Centre, Princess Royal Family Centre, and possibly 80 Chapel St, Nanaimo, BC.

Work Area : Multi-Site

Travel Requirement : Travel between multiple sites may be required

Shift Start Time / End Time : Not specified

Days Off : Rotating

Vacancy Type : Regular FT

Salary Range (Hourly Rate) : $25.54 - $27.22

Paid FTE : 1.0

Worked BI-WEEKLY HOURS : 75

Planned Start Date : Jan. 6 2025

Job Description

In alignment with Vancouver Island Health Authority's (Island Health) mission, the position emphasizes patient and staff safety, with a focus on continuous quality and safety improvements.

Reporting to the manager or designate (and audiologist for hearing screening duties), the Admin Support Health Unit Aide performs clerical and administrative tasks using various computerized applications. Responsibilities include maintaining supply inventories, booking appointments, gathering client information, and scheduling/conducting vision and hearing screenings for preschool and school-aged children in school or clinic settings.

Qualifications
Education, Training, and Experience
  • Grade 12 diploma
  • Medical Office Assistant Certificate or Office Administration Certificate
  • One (1) year of recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to complete in-house vision/hearing screener training with audiologist or vision training
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Ability to establish rapport with clients, including children, parents, community partners, and staff
  • Proficiency with computers and databases
  • Keyboarding speed of 60 wpm
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Physical ability to perform duties
