Job summary

The City of London has established the Anti-Racism and Anti-Oppression (ARAO) division to promote systemic change ensuring equitable access and engagement for all community members. To learn more, visit the ARAO website.

The role reports to the Coordinator, Amanda, and the Manager, Business Services. It involves collaborating with service managers to develop policies, conduct needs assessments, and produce clear, accessible content for staff and industry stakeholders. Responsibilities include data compilation, report creation, and developing training materials to support policy implementation.

  1. Conduct studies on application processing processes, engaging industry stakeholders and external agencies.
  2. Facilitate policy development sessions and interpret complex technical and political content.
  3. Recommend modifications to practices related to development compliance stages.
  4. Research and benchmark policies with other municipalities.
  5. Draft and edit policy documents for clarity and usability.
  6. Analyze growth management data and respond to information requests.
  7. Create reports with graphical data representations for strategic discussions and council presentations.
  8. Supervise staff involved in data collection and analysis.
  9. Maintain process maps to evaluate approval efficiency and data accuracy.
  10. Develop training materials and facilitate training sessions for staff and industry representatives.
  11. Assist with research and documentation for development and compliance services.
  12. Format documents into professional publications and prepare communication materials.
  13. Stay informed on provincial acts and regulations relevant to the role.
  14. Prepare presentations and reports for committee use.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Honours degree in engineering, computer science, geography, urban planning, or related field.
  • Certificate in Technical Writing is an asset.
Experience & Skills
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, with experience in macros, styles, formulas, and chart creation.
  • Ability to quickly learn software such as Visio, Adobe Acrobat, and Captivate.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and presentation abilities.
  • Understanding of municipal and provincial policies, bylaws, acts, and regulations.
  • Team player capable of managing multiple projects efficiently.
Additional Information

Salary: $60,408 - $87,775 (Level 14)

This is a permanent full-time position, working Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with a hybrid work arrangement subject to change.
