About the job

This position will support the coordination and project management of Twilio’s external ESG reporting efforts and help address emerging sustainability data and reporting requirements to contribute to Twilio’s global sustainability strategy. Reporting to the Vice President of Social & Environmental Impact on the Twilio.org team (the social impact arm of the company), the role will project manage the production and continuous improvement of Twilio’s Annual Impact & DEI Report, help manage relationships with ESG rating agencies (such as CDP, EcoVadis, and ISS), and ensure data alignment with reporting standards. Additionally, the role will support initiatives aimed at enhancing Twilio’s ESG performance, including efforts to reduce carbon emissions.

The ideal candidate will be analytical, detail-oriented, and a team player with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines. You should be comfortable with a fast-paced environment and eager to contribute to the production of trustworthy and useful ESG disclosures and reports. This role is well suited for someone with a strong interest in sustainability and a desire to grow in the field.

Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll:

  • Project manage the annual Impact & DEI Report, including planning, coordination, and ensuring accountability among cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Collect and analyze ESG data from partner teams while identifying potential errors and maintaining a sufficient audit trail.
  • Coordinate communications with senior leadership across the company, including legal, accounting, finance, HR, and others to ensure timely information sharing and alignment.
  • Partner with Technical Accounting to stay informed about regulatory changes related to ESG reporting and assist in implementing necessary updates to ensure compliance with evolving regulatory reporting standards.
  • Maintain Twilio’s current ESG data repository and recommend responses to inquiries from relevant ESG rating agencies, customers, and other organizations.
  • Help manage relationships with third-party raters and rankers (e.g., ISS), ensuring data accuracy and alignment with ESG standards.
  • Ensure alignment to various reporting frameworks (ESRS, SASB, TCFD, etc.) and provide recommendations for the strategic evolution of reporting.
  • Support ongoing improvements to reporting tools and processes, helping identify opportunities for automation and efficiency.
  • Assist with cross-functional projects aimed at improving ESG performance at the company.

Qualifications

Not all applicants will have skills that match a job description exactly. Twilio values diverse experiences in other industries, and we encourage everyone who meets the required qualifications to apply. While having “desired” qualifications make for a strong candidate, we encourage applicants with alternative experiences to also apply.

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • 2 years of experience managing projects related to ESG compliance and reporting.
  • Basic understanding of carbon accounting, ESG reporting frameworks and methodologies.
  • Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Proven quantitative skills and the ability to comprehend, synthesize, and analyze ESG and greenhouse gas data.
  • Effective communication skills for clear, concise, and impactful report writing.
  • Familiarity with evolving ESG regulatory requirements.
  • Basic understanding of sustainable, responsible business practices across ESG.
  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively across teams.
