Job summary

Northland Power Inc. is seeking a Project Pre-Execution Manager to lead early-stage preparations for solar PV, wind, battery and gas projects.

Based in Toronto, you will develop cost estimates, set up project schedules and budgets, and coordinate pre-contract activities in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment. You will collaborate with SP&D and the PMO, manage pre-execution tasks, validate assumptions, and support procurement, EPCs and vendor interfaces across multiple regions.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in planning and coordinating work activities in advance of construction execution.
• Strong experience in logistics planning, cost estimating, and project controls.
• Experience in a similar role within the renewable energy sector and/or gas-powered generation projects.
• Engineering, technical, or related degree, with a minimum of 10 years of experience delivering renewable energy and gas-fired power projects.
• Strong understanding of construction practices, supported by hands-on field experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the administration and management of large-scale construction contracts.

Responsibilities

• Lead early-stage project activities with engineering, construction, development, and project support teams.
• Provide constructability reviews of designs to lower capex or speed up schedules.
• Validate cost assumptions during pre-execution and support historical project data.
• Support development of onshore solar PV, wind, battery and natural gas projects across multiple regions.
• Plan resources and coordinate input of specialized skills from internal or external experts.
• Foster relationships with EPC contractors and industry partnerships for informed EPC selection.
• Support RFP tenders for EPC Contracts and balance-of-plant scope of work packages.
• Develop innovative Project Execution Plans and clear construction cost estimates.
