Job summary

Our Lady of the Assumption School in Lethbridge seeks a part-time Early Learning Education Assistant (14 hours/week, morning). This CUPE 1825 position runs until June 10, 2027. Responsibilities include supporting with language development, special needs learners, and daily living skills under a multi-disciplinary team, with SLP guidance.

Starting wage is $25.26/hour. The school division offers a comprehensive benefits package funded by the employer.

Qualifications

• Hanen Certification in language development preferred.
• Experience in Childhood Program or with children with special needs.
• Ability to provide supports and cues for sound production under guidance of SLP.
• Ability to model appropriate behaviours and activities for children.
• Willingness to obtain First Aid Training and assist with daily living skills.

Responsibilities

• Support children with developmental needs in an Early Learning setting.
• Implement strategies under supervision of the Speech Language Pathologist.
• Collaborate with a trans-disciplinary team to meet individual needs.
• Assist with toileting and daily living tasks as required.

EARLY LEARNING EDUCATION ASSISTANT – Our Lady of the Assumption School

We are looking to hire a continuous 14.0 hour per week (AM) Early Learning Education Assistant at Our Lady of the Assumption School in Lethbridge. This assignment is to commence as soon as possible and end June 10, 2027. This position is covered by the CUPE 1825 Support Staff collective agreement. Please quote Posting #4066032 .

To be considered for this position candidates must possess or be willing to gain the following skills:

• Hanen Learning Language and Loving It Certification;
• At least one-year experience working in Childhood Program and/or with children with special needs;
• Experience working proactively with positive intervention with child's behaviours;
• Is able to provide supports and cues for sound production as directed by the Speech Language Pathologist;
• Is able to match activities and model appropriate behaviours at child's functioning level;
• Has or is willing to gain First Aid Training;
• Positions may require providing assistance with toileting and other daily living skills;
• Has the ability to work effectively within a trans-disciplinary team which is dependent on the child's need;
• Is able to take direction from the professional team;
• Must be physically able to engage and participate in the active ECS environment.
