Job summary

Holy Spirit Catholic School Division in Lethbridge is seeking a temporary 14-hour-per-week Kindergarten Education Assistant for St. Paul School. The assignment begins as soon as possible and ends June 10, 2027, under CUPE 1825.

The role requires Hanen certification, 1+ year in childhood program or with children with special needs, and ability to work in a trans-disciplinary team. Starting rate is $25.26/hour.

Qualifications

• Hanen certification required for language support.
• At least 1 year experience in Childhood Program or with children with special needs.
• Experience with proactive positive intervention for behaviours.
• Ability to provide sound production support as directed by the Speech Language Pathologist.
• Ability to model appropriate behaviours at the child's functioning level.
• Willing to gain First Aid Training.
• May require assistance with toileting and daily living skills.
• Ability to work within a trans-disciplinary team and take direction.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily activities and learning tasks in Kindergarten.
• Support children with special needs and implement behaviour supports.
• Work under supervision of teachers and therapists.
• Participate in trans-disciplinary team planning.

We are looking to hire a temporary 14.0 hour per week Kindergarten Education Assistant (AM) to work at St. Paul School in Lethbridge. This assignment is to commence as soon as possible and terminate June 10, 2027. This position is covered by the CUPE 1825 Support Staff collective agreement. Please quote.

• Hanen Learning Language and Loving It Certification;
• At least one-year experience working in Childhood Program and/or with children with special needs;
• Experience working proactively with positive intervention with child's behaviours;
• Is able to provide supports and cues for sound production as directed by the Speech Language Pathologist;
• Is able to match activities and model appropriate behaviours at child's functioning level;
• Has or is willing to gain First Aid Training;
• Positions may require providing assistance with toileting and other daily living skills;
• Has the ability to work effectively within a trans-disciplinary team which is dependent on the child's need;
• Is able to take direction from the professional team;
• Must be physically able to engage and participate in the active ECS environment.
