Job summary

Centennial College in Toronto seeks a Registered Early Childhood Educator Specialist to work under the Supervisor/Manager in the Early Childhood Laboratory Centre, supporting student teachers and ensuring high-quality care. You will document performance, model skills, and build professional relationships with families while guiding ECE students with ongoing feedback and collaboration with faculty.

Qualifications

• Minimum two (2) year ECE diploma or equivalent.
• Current Member in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators.
• A minimum of 3 years age group related experience in a licensed child care setting obtained after completion of ECE diploma.
• Current certification in Standard First Aid and CPR.
• Up to date medical including TB test and immunizations.
• Clear Vulnerable Sector Police Check issued within six months of date of hire.
• Knowledge and Experience in implementing in the following: The Assessment of Quality Improvement, Ontario Early Years Act, Public Health Regulations for Child Care, How Does Learning Happen.
• Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills in a child care setting working with infants or toddlers and pre-school children from a diverse background.
• Proven flexibility, cooperation and willingness to share ideas and information to enhance team building with staff.
• Experience, knowledge and understanding of working effectively in a diverse environment.
• Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be able to lift up to 45 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Plan developmentally appropriate curriculum for birth to 4 years old.
• Provide behaviour guidance and supervise playrooms, playgrounds, groups and routines.
• Facilitate activities to enhance language, motor, independence and problem-solving.
• Set up indoor and outdoor activities based on observations and Emergent Curriculum.
• Establish positive interactions and rapport with children and families.
• Ensure health and safety of children and environment.
• Adapt environment to address diverse needs of children and families.
• Support and communicate with parents, faculty and community.
• Provide ongoing observations and feedback to ECE students.
