Job summary

Little Salmon Carmacks First Nation is seeking a Daycare Worker in the Education Department for a term full-time role from Aug. to Dec. 18, 2026.

The position focuses on ensuring regulatory compliance, creating enriching activities, and maintaining open communication with families. Qualifications include a High School diploma or GED, Early Learning certification or diploma with 1–3 years of relevant experience, and required clearances (Medical, Immunization, Criminal Records).

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED, Early Learning certification or diploma with 1 to 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Knowledge of early childhood development theory, principles and practices.
  • Ability to provide a supportive and caring environment for children.
  • Child supervision skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
  • Ability to provide basic nutrition for infants and young children.
  • Must provide Medical Clearance and Immunization update record.
  • Criminal Records/Vulnerable Sector Checks, First Aid/CPR Certification.
  • Willingness to participate in training/ECD courses.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure YTG regulations are followed at all times, including staff–child ratios, safety and hygiene, and supervision of the children.
  • Understand and apply LSCFN philosophy when working with parents, children, staff and community members.
  • Create and implement developmentally appropriate programming.
  • Keep close contact with families regarding their children’s daily activities, happenings and growth and development.
  • Complete the daily and weekly cleaning schedule so that YTG regulations are met.
  • Provide a nurturing, stimulating and safe environment for the children to participate in.
  • Attend relevant workshops and courses provided in the community (LSCFN may pay for these courses).
  • Maintain an organized and functional section, rotating toys and coordinating supplies.
  • Report regularly to the coordinator for information-sharing regarding the children and the program.
