Job summary

Sturgeon Lake Education seeks an Early Childhood Educator to join our team. You will plan and lead daily activities that support intellectual, spiritual, physical and emotional growth of children, and prepare a learning environment that encourages active exploration.

Applicants should have an ECE Level II certificate or equivalent, may speak or understand a First Nations language, and commit to ongoing learning.

Qualifications

• Early Childhood Education Level II (Certificate) or equivalent post-secondary training.
• Ability to speak/understand First Nations language and/or knowledge of culture.
• Willing to continue self-improvement/education.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize and lead daily activities to stimulate intellectual, spiritual, physical and emotional growth of children.
• Prepare the environment for children to learn through active exploration and interaction with adults, other children using age appropriate materials.
• Provide multicultural materials and equipment for children of all ages. Maintains constant supervision of indoor and outdoor play periods.
• Cooks meals and snacks when the duty is assigned.
• Cleans and sanitizes the facility according to the weekly schedule. Maintain a clean, attractive, safe environment that facilitates optimal growth and development of children and good working conditions for all workers.
• Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
