Are you the right fit?

We seek a dynamic, motivated Early Childhood Educator who embodies compassion, accountability, responsiveness, and empowerment. You will work as part of a team to provide a positive environment supporting children’s emotional, social, cognitive, and physical development. Your role involves caring for and observing children to foster their interests and provide engaging programs.

This is a unionized, full-time, temporary position starting July 24, 2025, and ending September 4, 2026. The pay rate is $19.21/hour, with potential top-ups increasing it to $25.21–$28.21/hour. The position is 40 hours/week, and location/program assignments may change based on operational needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, plan, promote, implement, and evaluate daily program operations with support from supervisors and staff.
  • Design and implement programming based on the Ministry of Education’s “How Does Learning Happen?” pedagogy.
  • Create and maintain a safe, responsive learning environment tailored to children’s interests and needs.
  • Ensure compliance with licensing requirements under the Child Care and Early Years Act (2014).
  • Provide quality, play-based learning and supervision at all times.
  • Meet program needs and adhere to licensing standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education and registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators.
  • At least 2 years of experience working with children from infants to school age, and their families.
  • Experience in a CCEYA licensed program, with parents, and community partners.
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable legislation, e.g., Child Care and Early Years Act (2014).
  • Current First Aid/CPR, Safe Food Handling, and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (N.V.C.I.) training.
  • ECERS, SACERS, and Quest 1 (High Five) training are assets.
