Position: Trained Teacher (Early Childhood Educator)

Type: Temporary, Full Time

Hours of Work: 7 Hours/Day

Start Date/Term: June 30, 2025 - August 29, 2025

Reports To: Site Supervisor, St. Jude Child Care Centre

Position Summary

Develops and leads the implementation of high-quality, developmentally appropriate programs for children to facilitate their physical, social, emotional, and cognitive growth. Supports inclusion and integration of children with special needs, and promotes a team environment.

Responsibilities
  1. Plan and supervise a safe environment, maintaining safety and health standards.
  2. Implement daily programming aligned with agency-approved curriculum to promote development and active learning.
  3. Ensure compliance with relevant laws and guidelines, including the Child Care Early Years Act.
  4. Observe and assess children’s needs and progress, adapting programs accordingly.
  5. Engage in positive interactions, promote independence, and foster respectful communication.
  6. Communicate effectively with parents and families about their child's development.
  7. Collaborate with other agencies to support children's success.
  8. Manage medication schedules and allergies.
  9. Assist with transportation duties if required.
  10. Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen and classroom.
  11. Supervise student teachers and support their evaluation process.
Qualifications
  1. ECE degree/diploma or equivalent, with experience working with children, including those with special needs.
  2. Member in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators.
  3. Knowledge of ELECT, High Scope curriculum, and inclusive programming.
  4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  5. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Internet, and email.
  6. Ability to work effectively with diverse families and colleagues.
  7. Vulnerable Police Record Check, Standard First Aid certification, and up-to-date immunizations.
Salary & Benefits

Starting at $28.34/hour, with a comprehensive benefits package, paid time off, including 20 vacation days and 3 float days (prorated).
