Job summary

Burnaby Association for Community Inclusion (BACI) seeks a Temporary Part-Time Early Childhood Educator in Burnaby, BC. You will plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities for children aged 0–5, promoting inclusive practices in a dynamic team environment.

Responsibilities include leading play-based programs, engaging with families, and supporting children with additional needs. Requires ECE credential and First Aid; union membership required.

Qualifications

• BC Early Childhood Education required.
• ECE IT Certificate & Special Needs Certificate preferred.
• First Aid, TB screen, Vaccination status disclosure required.
• Clear BC Criminal Record Check.
• Minimum of 2 work references.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement and lead play-based learning programs for 0–5 age group.
• Contribute to curriculum improvement through observations and interactions with children.
• Maintain positive relationships and communication with families.
• Provide support for children requiring additional assistance in inclusive settings.
• Work with children aged 0–5 and ensure inclusion for all at the centre.
• Demonstrate ability to follow procedures and work with families, professionals and staff.
• Utilize basic computer skills to support programming and record-keeping.

Job description

Early Childhood Educators work in a dynamic team environment. They work with children between the ages of 0 - 5 to provide a caring and stimulating environment which promotes intellectual, physical and emotional growth. At BACI, Early Childhood Educators ensure inclusion for all the children at the centre as they plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities for the children.

Position: Temporary Part-Time Early Childhood Educator

Location: Burnaby, BC

Hours: 20.0 hours per week Schedule: Monday - Friday 1:30PM-5:30PM

Position End Date: April 1, 2028, or until incumbent returns

Education & Qualifications:

• BC Early Childhood Education required and ECE IT (Early Childhood Educator Infant Toddler) Certificate & Special Needs Certificate preferred.

• Clear BC Criminal Record Check.
• Minimum of 2 Previous Work References.

Description:

• Develop, implement and lead early play-based learning programs and activities such as storytelling, reading, singing with infants and toddlers.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of early years curriculum through your observations and interactions with children on the front-line.
• Maintain positive relationships and communication with families.
• Practical experience working with children requiring additional support in inclusive settings.
• Practical experience working with children 0-5 years.
• Understanding and commitment to the principles of inclusion.
• Demonstrated ability to work with families, professionals and staff.
• Ability to understand and follow procedure.
• Working knowledge of computers is preferred.
