Job summary

Burnaby Association for Community Inclusion in Burnaby, BC is seeking a Temporary Part-Time Early Childhood Educator to support children aged 0–5 in a dynamic, inclusive setting. The role runs 20 hours weekly, Mon-Fri 1:30PM-5:30PM, with a position end date of 2028-04-01 or until the incumbent returns.

BC ECE is required; ECE IT and Special Needs certificates are preferred. Union membership is required; benefits include First Aid/NCI, wellness, pension after probation, birthday off and Christmas

Responsibilities

Job description

Early Childhood Educators work in a dynamic team environment. They work with children between the ages of 0 - 5 to provide a caring and stimulating environment which promotes intellectual, physical and emotional growth. At BACI, Early Childhood Educators ensure inclusion for all the children at the centre as they plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities for the children.

Position: Temporary Part-Time Early Childhood Educator

Location: Burnaby, BC

Hours: 20.0 hours per week Schedule: Monday - Friday 1:30PM-5:30PM

Position End Date: April 1, 2028, or until incumbent returns

Education & Qualifications:

• BC Early Childhood Education required and ECE IT (Early Childhood Educator Infant Toddler) Certificate & Special Needs Certificate preferred.
• This position requires First Aid, TB screen/self-assessment, Vaccination/Immunization status disclosure.
• Clear BC Criminal Record Check.
• Minimum of 2 Previous Work References.

Description:

• Develop, implement and lead early play-based learning programs and activities such as storytelling, reading, singing with infants and toddlers.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of early years curriculum through your observations and interactions with children on the front-line.
• Maintain positive relationships and communication with families.
• Practical experience working with children requiring additional support in inclusive settings.
• Practical experience working with children 0-5 years.
• Understanding and commitment to the principles of inclusion.
• Demonstrated ability to work with families, professionals and staff.
• Ability to understand and follow procedure.
• Working knowledge of computers is preferred.
