Job summary

WSP Canada in British Columbia is seeking an Electrical/Civil Engineering Technologist to shape power delivery projects across the province. Qualifications

• Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related discipline.
• Eligibility for registration, or current registration, with ASTTBC.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record and willingness to travel to project sites as required.
• Demonstrated interest or experience in power distribution design, consulting engineering, the electric utility industry, or related infrastructure sectors.
• Previous engineering design or drafting experience, particularly within civil or electrical engineering environments.
• Familiarity with utility standards, CSA requirements, and powerline construction techniques.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn new technical software and design tools.
• Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Support a wide range of projects for new power services, including upgrades to existing services and new service installations.
• Coordinate closely with clients, project managers, engineers, and designers to help ensure seamless project delivery.
• Apply engineering calculations to prepare design and construction packages for overhead and underground power distribution systems.
• Perform quality reviews of design deliverables to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with applicable standards.
• Design and analyze overhead and underground distribution systems using distribution design software and engineering best practices.
• Apply relevant industry codes and standards, including CSA requirements, to develop safe and reliable distribution designs.
• Conduct site visits as required and provide support during the construction phase to help ensure successful project implementation.
• Identify opportunities to improve design efficiency, quality, innovation, and knowledge sharing while delivering high-quality work that supports critical energy infrastructure.
