Job summary

Jacobs is actively seeking an Environmental Planner to join our team, hybrid-office based out of one of our Western Canada offices (Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Burnaby, Victoria). You will support environmental components of design, construction and operations for infrastructure projects while interfacing with clients and upholding regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Degree in Environmental Planning, Environmental Science, Geography, Biology/Ecology, or a related field.
• 3+ years experience in environmental field.
• Familiarity with provincial and federal environmental permitting and regulatory requirements in western Canada.
• Demonstrated technical writing skills and attention to detail.
• Time management to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication; client-facing when needed.

Responsibilities

• Support environmental planning and permitting throughout the lifecycle of a project with a multi-disciplinary team.
• Stay current with regulations and ensure alignment with environmental standards.
• Conduct desktop reviews to identify impacts and help develop mitigations.
• Assist in preparation of permit inputs, regulatory filings, and environmental management plans.
• Coordinate and provide technical writing support for projects.
• Coordinate environmental field studies and alignment sheets.
• Support engagement with Indigenous communities, stakeholders and regulatory agencies.
• Be a Safety Leader for the project and promote Jacobs culture of caring.

Jacobs is currently looking to hire an Environmental Planner to join our dynamic team in a hybrid-office based out of one of our Western Canada offices (Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Burnaby, Victoria). In this position, you will be part our environmental planning and permitting teams. Your role involves supporting environmental components of the design, construction, and operations of infrastructure projects in western Canada, interfacing with clients, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. You will also support our various field programs by performing a variety of tasks including resolving issues and communicating with field staff.

• Coordinate and provide technical support for environmental alignment sheets.
• Support engagement efforts with Indigenous communities, stakeholders and regulatory agencies.
• Be a Safety Leader for the project and promote Jacobs Beyond Zero and our culture of caring.

Here's what you'll need

• Degree in Environmental Planning, Environmental Science, Geography, Biology/Ecology, or a related field.
• 3+ years experience in environmental field.
• Familiarity with provincial and federal environmental permitting, legislation, and regulatory requirements, primarily in western Canada.
• Demonstrated technical writing skills and high attention to detail to provide high quality deliverables.
• Time management skills, with the ability to simultaneously work on multiple tasks and projects and meet project deadlines.
• Great communication skills both written and verbal and willingness to be client facing to grow our planning and permitting services.
• High level of initiative and problem solving and adaptability.
• Demonstrated ability to work under minimal supervision.
• Strong understanding and consideration for safety.
• Willingness to work flexible hours

Ideally, You’ll Also Have

• Experience or knowledge of Indigenous cultural values
• Experience seeing major projects from planning through construction.
• Financial literacy and understanding of managing budgets and schedules.
• The ability to inspire, mentor, motivate, and build respect among colleagues, fostering a cohesive work environment.
