POSITION SUMMARY

The Construction Project Manager will be responsible for planning and overseeing the end-to-end delivery of assigned projects, typically of low complexity, risk, and exposure, within the defined scope, schedule, and budget, adhering to BGIS and client procedural boundaries. In this role, you will team with and/or direct technical and professional staff, consultants, and contractors, utilizing your strengths in communication, reporting, stakeholder coordination, and fiscal control to ensure client satisfaction, team-member satisfaction, and financial success.

The diversity of projects managed by our Project Delivery Services and/or Design Group covers various industries such as Retail, Commercial, Institutional, and Industrial. This makes the position an exciting opportunity to be involved in different construction models. You will manage various stakeholder interests and continue to grow your knowledge base. You will be part of a Project Management team delivering services across all project phases, from workplace planning and pre-construction to design development and construction management. Annually, our group manages over 4,500 projects, with a team of 160+ members, delivering more than $450M across Canada, from small infrastructure upgrades to tenant fit-ups, major consolidations, new builds, energy retrofits, and critical environments.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

For the assigned projects :
  1. Plan and oversee the end-to-end delivery of projects, establishing project scope, cost, risk, schedule, quality, resource, procurement, and stakeholder management elements in collaboration with project stakeholders.
  2. Develop and implement detailed project plans.
  3. Familiarize with design and construction contracts and documentation.
  4. Determine resource needs, budget estimates, and timelines.
  5. Identify project risks and develop mitigation and contingency plans.
  6. Monitor project progress to ensure timely completion.
  7. Oversee project team activities and monitor task completion.
  8. Communicate project status to relevant stakeholders.
  9. Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, budget, and in compliance with all regulatory, environmental, health, and safety requirements.

Client Relationship Management

  1. Develop and maintain effective client relationships.
  2. Resolve issues, manage client expectations, and ensure satisfaction.
  3. Generate progress and status reports.
  4. Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Community college diploma preferably in architectural technology, construction technology, engineering technology, or equivalent work experience in the construction industry.
  • 3 to 5 years of project management experience.
  • Proven ability to deliver projects on time, on budget, and compliant with all contractual and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience in developing and managing project budgets.
  • Skills in risk mitigation and management.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships.
  • Experience in client management and service orientation.
  • Leadership skills and experience in managing project teams.
  • Vendor management experience.
  • Commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, and familiarity with BIM modeling and interdisciplinary coordination.
