Job Summary

Reporting to the Head Coach, Strength and Conditioning, the incumbent will assist in planning and implementing S&C services for Queen's Football and support broader initiatives across Queen's Athletics and Recreation. The role involves collaboration with staff to deliver effective services, foster inclusion, and contribute to high-performance sport goals.

The position also includes developing training and education projects related to athlete well-being, sport trends, community engagement, and revenue generation.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Planning and Coaching (approx. 75%)
    • Promote an inclusive culture aligned with A&R values and equity initiatives.
    • Collaborate with coaching staff to design and implement strength and conditioning programs emphasizing athlete well-being and performance.
    • Support development of High Performance and Training plans, including programming for speed, agility, energy systems, strength, injury prevention, and athlete monitoring.
    • Assist in coaching varsity teams during summer, supporting training sessions.
    • Implement emergency action plans for injuries, including first aid and AED use.
    • Stay current with sport science trends, attend relevant meetings, and ensure compliance with regulations.
    • Provide administrative support and ensure safe training practices.
    • Enhance visibility through public speaking, clinics, camps, and community engagement.
    • Coordinate with Sports Medicine on injury management and return-to-play protocols.
    • Support fundraising and community relationship-building activities.
    • Represent Queen’s Athletics and Recreation at events, engaging alumni and community supporters.
    • Support other departmental programs and initiatives as needed.
  2. Leadership and Services (approx. 25%)
    • Participate in departmental events and initiatives.
    • Mentor student-interns in collaboration with the School of Kinesiology and Health Studies.
    • Attend team practices and support program development.
    • Contribute to educational and administrative projects supporting high-performance sport.
    • Serve on committees and working groups as assigned.
Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Physical Education, Kinesiology, or related fields; university degree preferred.
  • High-performance coaching experience, ideally at collegiate, provincial, or national levels.
  • Knowledge of exercise physiology, coaching pedagogy, sports science, and athlete development.
  • Experience working with athletes aged 18–25 towards competitive standards.
  • Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) required.
  • Membership with CSCA or equivalent certification.
  • CPR & First Aid Level C, SafeSport Certification, Criminal Record Check, and Ontario driver’s license required.
  • Knowledge of nutrition is an asset.
