We work with clients and architects to create carefully detailed buildings and bridge structures that break new ground in sophistication, craftsmanship, and quality. We thrive on new and challenging design concepts, materials, and construction methods. StructureCraft enjoys pushing the boundaries in complex geometry, digital fabrication, and material testing and research, and our work in this regard has been recognized internationally, including numerous awards for innovation in timber engineering and construction.

The 3D Digital Design Manager will lead a skilled team of 3D designers, fabrication modellers, and detailers located in our offices across North America and in Europe. The primary duties of this role include the planning, monitoring, and reporting of active projects in stages from bid through to construction whilst developing new innovative and cutting-edge methods, and practices to ensure the team stays at the leading edge of timber design. Under the 3D Digital Design Manager’s vision and leadership, the team of project leads, VDC coordinators, and 3D Designers will collaborate with external project teams, in-house engineering, project management, fabrication, and installation teams to ensure efficient, accurate, timely, and on-budget timber structures.

By joining us, you’ll have direct influence on the evolution of this next-generation software, working directly with the Branch software development team, and bringing your creative ideas to bear in designing smart functionality into Branch. In-house training in Branch will be provided.

Your Responsibilities

  • Leading project 3D Design and Detailing Teams and reporting on milestones, forecasted costs to completion, project schedule and budget health and risks/issues each week to the wider project delivery team leadership.
  • Reviewing and approving project execution plans including, schedules, working estimates, digital parametric modeling plans and software approach.
  • Short- and long-term resource planning and forecasting.
  • Providing mentorship and performance feedback to ensure continuous development of the team.
  • Develop and implement new standards and practices with a goal of increasing operational efficiency.
  • Ensure teams follow established company standard operating procedures and drafting standards.
  • Attend design meetings as needed to ensure early project planning is done correctly
  • Continual improvement of design & drafting process to improve efficiency and reduce design cycle times

Position Requirements

  • Five or more years of direct experience managing teams, including HR, hiring, performance reviews, mentorship, and leading detailing teams with multiple project teams reporting into them.
  • High level knowledge of industry-standard detailing practices and digital modeling processes and workflows.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and developing teams with proven methods to increase productivity, team communication and team development
