Job Description: Commercial Manager - MEICA & Capital Maintenance

Where will you be working?

MEICA and capital maintenance - Our Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control & Automation (MEICA) experts offer a one-stop solution, including ongoing operation and maintenance services.

What will you be doing?

As a Commercial Manager, you’ll oversee financial and contractual aspects, ensuring project and business development success. You’ll work closely with clients to understand their needs, negotiate agreements, and foster long-term relationships. Your responsibilities include managing costs, contracts, and commercial risks, supporting operational teams with commercial guidance, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. You will also handle documentation, reporting, supplier agreements, and contribute to strategic decisions to support business growth.

Requirements
  1. Advising and supporting the contract management team on cost and value reporting to meet profit targets.
  2. Ensuring compliance with company processes to minimize outstanding cash and meet contract and business thresholds.
  3. Assisting in preparing Contract Budget Forecasts and reviewing margin improvement plans.
  4. Conducting risk analyses to identify and mitigate contract risks.
  5. Negotiating effectively at internal and client levels, liaising confidently with senior staff.
  6. Producing weekly and monthly CVRs, presenting to Senior Leadership with clear narratives and evidence.
  7. Overseeing procurement and management of subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring adherence to governance protocols.
  8. Providing input into cash flow and aged debt reporting.
  9. Implementing new processes and addressing risks regarding compliance and suitability.
  10. Supporting commercial bidding and pricing strategies as needed.
Skills and Knowledge Requirements
  1. Effective communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  2. Experience with high-value NEC contracts, preferably in capital delivery.
  3. Knowledge of work activities and operational procedures.
  4. Understanding of statutory, regulatory, and company policies.
  5. Ability to identify opportunities for improvement and influence change.
  6. Knowledge of service delivery within the utilities sector.
  7. Client focus and ability to build strong relationships with senior leaders.
  8. Relevant Honours Degree or equivalent qualification.
