Financial Product Reference Data Solution Engineer – SQL (Senior)

Job Description:

1. Financial Data Modeling Capabilities
2. Data Analysis for complex systems
3. Reverse engineering functional specifications from data
4. Work closely with End Users/Clients to understand Business Process/Industry Standards/Regulatory Mandate requirements.
5. Collaborate with IT and Operations partners
6. Engage with external data vendors (e.g., Bloomberg, Reuters, IDC, Markit) and standards organizations
7. Execute projects independently
8. Conduct Systems Integrated Testing (SIT) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
9. Create Functional Specification Documents (FSD), System Requirement Specification (SRS), and test plans
10. Mentor and coach junior analysts

Qualifications:

1. Minimum 8+ years of experience as a Business Analyst
2. Senior Business Analyst – lead a team of BAs; potential to become a program lead. Experience of 8-15 years required. Focus on core technology BA roles, not transitioning from BA to PM.
3. Experience in capital markets, trade lifecycle, and related processes
4. Strong SQL skills, data modeling, and data analysis expertise (50% of role)
5. Solid background in financial reference data and capital markets
6. Excellent data analysis, mapping skills, and troubleshooting abilities
7. College degree, specialized training, or equivalent work experience
8. Attention to detail and data-oriented mindset
9. Understanding of business process reengineering, business modeling, and SDLC methodologies (Waterfall, Agile)
10. Strong analytical and writing skills, with experience in functional and technical specifications
11. Effective communication skills, assertiveness, and ability to work under pressure
12. Knowledge of testing lifecycle including SIT, UAT, and production environments

Skills:

1. Experience with major vendor data providers (e.g., Bloomberg, Reuters, IDC, Markit)
