Financial Product Reference Data Solution Engineer – SQL (Senior)

Job Description:

1. Data analysis for complex systems
2. Reverse engineering functional specifications from data
3. Work closely with end users/clients to understand business processes, industry standards, and regulatory requirements
4. Collaborate with IT and operations partners
5. Coordinate with external data vendors (e.g., Bloomberg, Reuters, IDC, Markit) and standards organizations
6. Execute projects independently
7. Conduct Systems Integrated Testing (SIT) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
8. Create functional specification documents (FSD), system requirement specifications (SRS), and test plans
9. Mentor and coach junior analysts

Qualifications:

1. Minimum 8+ years of experience as a Business Analyst
2. Senior business analyst with experience leading a team of BAs; candidate will eventually become a program lead. 8-15 years of experience required. Focus on project execution with core technology BA skills.
3. Experience in capital markets, trade lifecycle, and financial reference data
4. Strong SQL skills, data modeling, and data analysis capabilities
5. Solid understanding of data modeling and data analysis
6. College degree, specialized training, or equivalent work experience
7. Detail-oriented with a data-driven approach
8. Experience with business process reengineering, business modeling, and SDLC methodologies (Waterfall, Agile)
9. Excellent analytical and writing skills, including functional and technical specifications
10. Good communication skills with assertiveness
11. Ability to maintain high-quality work under pressure
12. Knowledge of testing lifecycle, including SIT, UAT, and production environments

Preferred Skills:

1. Experience with vendor data providers (e.g., Bloomberg, Reuters, IDC, Markit)
2. Project leadership experience
3. Experience working with IT project managers and development teams
4. Proficiency in MS Excel and Visio
5. Experience with vendor product implementation
