Our client, a Major Financial Institution, is seeking a highly analytical Financial Data Consultant for an initial 6-month contract to support a critical initiative. The role involves analyzing and rationalizing the current General Ledger (GL) hierarchy, comparing how financial data is reported externally under IFRS and US GAAP with its internal structure. The successful candidate will map and reconcile key differences, contributing to long-term change management as the bank transitions from legacy systems to ERP/GL.
The Key Responsibilities include:
- Analyze existing GL hierarchies and understand entry flows under IFRS and US GAAP.
- Review and document current financial reporting processes under both standards and map them to the GL structure.
- Identify gaps, discrepancies, and misalignments; propose corrective actions.
- Collaborate with finance, external reporting, and technical teams to ensure data and reporting alignment.
- Support changes across approximately 10,000 GL accounts, considering hierarchy nuances and downstream impacts.
- Assist in restructuring the S4 hierarchy and contribute to change management efforts.
- Create detailed mapping documents, change logs, and impact analysis reports.
- Utilize Excel tools (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables) for data analysis and reconciliation.
- Qualifications include:
- Experience in data mapping, financial reporting structures, or hierarchy analysis within banking or large enterprises.
- Knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP frameworks and accounting principles.
- Advanced MS Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, etc.).
- Experience with SAP S4/HANA is a strong asset.
- Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work with large datasets and derive insights from complex structures.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work cross-functionally in a collaborative environment.
The Nice to Have skills include:
- Experience supporting GL hierarchy redesign or external reporting transformation projects.
- Familiarity with financial reporting systems and tools used in large banks.
- Understanding of change management processes in financial or regulatory contexts.
