Mandatory Requirements

1. Two-year community college Early Childhood Education Diploma or Degree
2. Proof of registration with the Ontario College of Early Childhood Educators
3. Valid certificates in First Aid and CPR
4. Recent experience planning and implementing educational programs for preschool-aged children
5. Basic computer skills
6. Strong organization and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines
7. Ability to stand/walk for extended periods and move/carry equipment for programs
8. Physical ability to assist children as required
9. Knowledge of the Ministry of Education full-day learning program
10. Knowledge of related legislation and a working knowledge of Board policies and procedures
11. Ability to communicate sensitively and courteously with children, parents, staff, and the public
12. Ability to work effectively in a team environment
13. Knowledge of play-based learning
14. Ability to manage classroom, stressful, and emergency situations appropriately, following Board policies and procedures

Preferred Requirements

1. Two years recent childcare experience in an Early Learning Centre or Day Care
2. Recent experience in a school setting with kindergarten children
3. Knowledge of early literacy and numeracy skill development strategies
4. Ability to speak French is an asset
5. Experience with outreach and community development programs is an asset
