What’s the role?

We are looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer who will be primarily responsible for automating infrastructure configurations utilizing best practices for provisioning, monitoring, and managing our client production environments on Amazon’s AWS platform.

You are passionate about the adoption of DevOps products and processes and keep yourself up-to-date with the latest AWS offerings. You have a strong technical and automation background and experience with tools such as Terraform and Ansible. You will be working in an operationally focused capacity as well, with access to production systems, taking pride in the availability, efficiency, and security of all systems. You are sharp and a quick thinker and are comfortable participating in the on-call rotation. You will help drive and implement strategic choices in our evolving cloud infrastructure in support of Students and Higher Learning Institutions.

1. Engineer and automate infrastructure and configuration management tasks – including (but not restricted to) application deployment, infrastructure creation, backup processes, disaster recovery, security hardening, application of security patches.
2. Interface with other departments during project implementations and provide support for ongoing integration activities.
3. Resolve and repair critical infrastructure and application issues as needed. Coordinate and communicate with impacted departments and customers.
4. Ensure the uptime of our cloud infrastructure is in accordance with our SLA through monitoring and systems analysis.
5. Work in an agile environment where features and projects are completed in defined sprints.
6. Participate in the on-call rotation.

What you offer…

1. University degree in Computer Science or related field with 5+ years of work experience in infrastructure management with 3+ years in DevOps automation.
2. Expert in Windows and Linux administration. Extremely comfortable with command line (i.e., Bash, Powershell) and use of tools to manage, provision, deploy, and diagnose Linux and Windows systems.
3. Practical hands-on experience with core AWS services such as EC2, S3, Glacier, Lambda, VPC, IAM, CloudTrail, Route53, etc.
4. Practical experience working with relational databases (Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL) and/or NoSQL databases (MongoDB, DynamoDB). Experience with SQL Server administration is a bonus.
5. Practical experience monitoring complex infrastructures, analyzing logs and troubleshooting application performance with tools such as CloudWatch, Zabbix, AppDynamics, DataDog, ELK.
6. Practical experience with development build environments and tools such as Jenkins, Ant, Maven, Git, and Capistrano.
7. Practical experience with Java (JRE/JVM), PHP, Ruby, Apache, and Tomcat/TomEE. Experience with ColdFusion.
8. Practical hands-on experience with implementation in languages and tools such as Bash, Python, Terraform, and Ansible.
9. Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS services like ECS, ECR, Fargate, RDS, Cognito, DMS, Kinesis, OpenSearch is a bonus.
10. Demonstrate the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and aspire to be a project owner.
11. Proven ability to meet deadlines, prioritize tasks and work effectively with minimal supervision in a team environment.
12. Aptitude for constantly learning new technologies, highly desired.
13. Motivated, hardworking, and flexible.
