The department is research-intensive, focusing on advanced studies in Virology within the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry.
Reporting to Dr. Matthias Gotte, the Principal Investigator, the Postdoctoral Fellow (PDF) will work in a lab studying medical countermeasures against viral infections. Dr. Gotte leads UofA's pandemic preparedness program SPP-ARC, which fosters an interdisciplinary, collaborative environment with expertise in virology, immunology, biochemistry, chemistry, and structural biology (more info). The focus will be on viruses with high epidemic potential, especially designing antivirals or vaccines against influenza viruses.
