Job Description

The Electrical and Electronics New Product Development Lead will provide strategic support and vision (using the appropriate team resources) to advance product development initiatives for electrical and electronic products, focusing on new product development and understanding market trends and needs. This role includes managing the electrical development team and collaborating closely with Evans’ Customers, Sales, Marketing, and Product Development teams.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Create and maintain engineering policies and practices.
  2. Manage the development of new electrical/electronic offerings, primarily through external vendors, with potential development of internal capabilities.
  3. Collaborate with Product Development, Sales, Marketing, and Business Development to understand market demands and develop new products and services.
  4. Support Sales, Project Management, Design, and Customers in developing project-specific electrical and electronic solutions.
  5. Coordinate and manage support for field inquiries regarding electrical issues for existing customers and product installations.
  6. Establish proposal, design, and manufacturing standards for relevant departments.
  7. Integrate electrical offerings into 3D systems used across internal departments, working with Product Development and the Global Vault manager to ensure accuracy in electrical designs and sub-assemblies within the ERP system.
  8. Develop and implement company processes related to electrical offerings.
  9. Work with the Marketing Department to guide product development based on market requirements.
  10. Provide technical direction for products and projects to Sales, Project Management, and Manufacturing teams.
  11. Define, maintain, and ensure accuracy of Evans' product standards, including value engineering.
  12. Manage the Electrical Development team.
  13. Continuously evaluate the product offerings for relevance, features, and efficiency, implementing updates and upgrades as needed.

Qualifications

  1. P.Eng. designation or pursuing it.
  2. Proficiency in MS Office related to the field of study or equivalent.
  3. Ability to execute daily operational tasks effectively.
  4. Understanding of electrical codes (NEC) and their implications on products and services.
  5. Ability to interact with stakeholders and translate interactions into actionable strategies.
  6. Hands-on experience in product design, including developing new products and customizing as needed.
  7. Understanding of market needs and developing solutions accordingly.
  8. Ability to communicate new products and services through manuals, marketing materials, and other channels.

Education/Experience

  1. Electrical or Electronics Engineering Degree.
  2. Advanced Management or Business Degree (optional).
  3. Minimum 5 years in Product Development, New Product Introduction, or Management of New Development Processes.
  4. At least 5 years of experience in the Electrical Manufacturing industry.
  5. Experience with Autodesk CAD/Inventor Electrical.
  6. Knowledge of programming, firmware, and control logic.
  7. Expertise in MS Office related to the field of study or equivalent.
