Our Organization
Nucleus is a charitable, not-for-profit organization celebrating its 43rd anniversary this year. We serve vulnerable, complex older adults in their homes as well as adults with physical disabilities in the Mississauga-Halton region and have two satellite Supportive Housing buildings in West Toronto.
Our talented, compassionate, and credentialed personal support workers (PSWs) provide in-home care programs, including supports for daily living, a 24-hour hospital transition program, and attendant services in the home, school, work, and supportive housing environments. Nucleus leads two regional programs—Central Registry and the Regional Learning Centre—which support coordinated access, intake, and eligibility for a network of local health providers across various programs, including the Caregiver Respite Strategy, Food Security, and Hospital Transition programs.
Our organization is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), most recently in 2022, with renewal in 2025. Our service delivery models have been recognized locally, provincially, and federally. We have received two Minister’s Medals, two 3M National Awards, and regional awards for quality.
Nucleus is governed by a motivated and talented Board of 11 Directors overseeing a budget of approximately $21M. Nucleus is fully funded by Ontario Health. We concluded our strategic planning process in 2025 and plan to publicly launch our new strategies in 2025/26.
Our Board meets at least six times per year, typically at our head office in Oakville. Commitment to attend meetings regularly and participate in 2 of 3 Committees annually is required.
Nucleus is dedicated to creating equal opportunities for all and strongly encourages individuals from equity-seeking groups to apply. Accommodations are available upon request.
