Senior Business Development Manager – Accident & Health

Join us as a Senior Business Development Manager to play a highly influential role in the group benefits market and help grow our business.

General Insurance is a leading provider of insurance products and services – focused on helping to manage risk for commercial and personal customers. We offer a broad range of products through a diversified, multi-channel distribution network, including one of the world’s most far-reaching property casualty networks.

How you will create an impact

  • The main responsibility is to generate new business and manage existing broker / consultant relationships in our Central region (Ontario).
  • Manage the new business pipeline – handle requests, establish timelines, collaborate with underwriting to obtain quotes, and follow up promptly.
  • Work with brokers / consultants to achieve positive and profitable outcomes.
  • Analyze existing A&H portfolio and collaborate with commercial account leaders on new and cross-sell opportunities.
  • Serve as the primary contact for Central region brokers / consultants and coordinate service items with the broader A&H team.
  • Represent AIG at Employee Benefit conferences, acting as a thought leader.
  • Conduct presentations for broker / consultant community to facilitate continuing education (CE) credits.

What you’ll need to succeed

  • Self-starter with entrepreneurial spirit.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a client-facing role within Accident and Health / Group Benefits insurance.
  • Knowledge of or established relationships with employee benefits brokers, consultants, TPAs, and MGAs.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail and operational mindset.
  • College / University degree; post-graduate education is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • CEBS (GBA) designation or working towards it is an asset.
  • Life insurance or accident & sickness license is an asset.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to manage workload effectively, especially during high activity and tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective interaction with all levels of internal and external partners.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% for meetings with brokers, consultants, and clients.
