Qualifications
What you’ll bring to WSP:
- College Diploma in Civil Engineering Technician/Technology or Construction Engineering Technician/Technology, preferably with a focus on Geotechnical Engineering.
- Previous experience as a geotechnical technician is an asset.
- A vehicle with appropriate insurance and a valid driver’s license.
- Knowledge of drilling and test pit investigation procedures or a willingness to learn.
- An ownership attitude, initiative, enthusiasm, eagerness to learn and grow, attention to detail, good judgment, a strong work ethic, adaptability, and good communication skills.
Responsibilities
What you can expect to do here:
- Provide technical services in both field and office settings.
- Assist with materials-related projects, including field and laboratory testing of construction materials, in-situ density testing, and testing of concrete and asphalt.
- Conduct site reconnaissance, inspections, and observations.
- Under training, perform fieldwork such as directing subsurface investigations, supervising drill rigs/excavators, logging boreholes and test pits, site surveying, sampling soil and groundwater, and preparing site sketches.
- Use specialized equipment to prepare analyses, reports, and technical drawings.
- Summarize and analyze investigation and testing findings for report writing.
- Support other field and office activities as needed.
