Job description

Position Summary

Northern Health is seeking an experienced, efficient, and self-directed Clerk to support the Laboratory department.

Reporting to the Chief Technologist or designate, the Laboratory Clerk performs data entry, receives, sorts, and verifies specimens against requisitions/physicians' orders, accession specimens, and handles clerical and receptionist duties such as answering phones and filing.

Shift Rotation/Hours of Work: Days, Evenings, 06:00 to 14:00, 07:00 to 15:00, 07:30 to 15:30, 08:00 to 16:00, 10:00 to 18:00, 14:00 to 22:00 (rotating)

University Hospital of Northern BC (UHNBC) is the largest Acute Care facility in the Northern Health region, serving as a hub for specialized health services and a teaching hospital. It provides undergraduate physician training through the Northern Medical Program, hosts residents in UBC’s Family Practice Residency Program, and is a key clinical education site for nursing and health sciences students from various institutions. Since 2001, UHNBC has undergone nearly $100 million in expansions, renovations, and equipment upgrades, including an emergency room expansion, ICU updates, a state-of-the-art maternal-child care centre, an MRI unit, and a cancer centre offering radiation therapy.
