Queen's University is seeking a Communications Coordinator to support Residence Life and Services. The Housing and Ancillary Services team manages 4,940 student beds across 18 residence buildings, off-campus rental properties, dining halls, retail foodservice locations, the Donald Gordon Hotel and Conference Centre, Event Services, and the Enrichment Studies Unit University Club. These facilities support student life and contribute to the University's learning environment, including temporary accommodations for summer conferences and events.
The Residence Life and Services staff promote diversity, accountability, independence, and success, focusing on the development of the whole student. The Communications Coordinator is responsible for developing, executing, and measuring marketing and communications strategies and materials to support Residence Life and Services events and programs. This role involves creating content such as copywriting and graphic design for various channels including emails, websites, digital media, print materials, and publications.
Under the guidance of the Housing and Ancillary Services Communications Manager, the incumbent will maintain the Residence Life and Services brand, analyze digital analytics, monitor student engagement, and contribute to enhancing the residence experience. The position requires creativity, initiative, efficiency, accuracy, sensitivity, flexibility, and good judgment in a fast-paced, complex environment.
The Communications Coordinator will develop communication strategies, perform market research, review analytics, and evaluate effectiveness. The role includes creating messaging for different media, managing social media, and identifying growth opportunities. Responsibilities also include maintaining websites, coordinating marketing materials, moderating online discussions, and preparing presentations and visual displays. The schedule requires evening and weekend work.
