Position Overview

The role involves planning, organizing, coordinating, and controlling the technical and personnel aspects of aircraft overhaul and maintenance. The manager will lead a team of aircraft technicians responsible for depot level maintenance and aircraft modifications, ensuring quality, timeliness, and budget adherence. Responsibilities also include implementing company policies, ensuring safety, and maintaining compliance with quality systems and collective agreements.

What You Will Do

  1. Provide management and technical guidance to the production team.
  2. Manage team productivity to meet goals.
  3. Set work priorities, checkpoints, and alerts.
  4. Monitor work quality and implement corrective actions as needed.
  5. Adhere to company procedures and quality management processes.
  6. Apply rigorous budget control, ensuring optimal resource use.
  7. Investigate budget discrepancies.
  8. Ensure timely completion of documentation.
  9. Coordinate with the Training Department to meet technical training requirements.
  10. Be familiar with the Canadian Forces Technical Airworthiness Manual and related certification requirements.
  11. Conduct employee performance appraisals.
  12. Ensure health and safety standards are met, including safety rounds and enforcement.
  13. Produce written communications such as memos, reports, and assessments.
  14. Lead briefings on aircraft production activities.
  15. Facilitate continuous improvement initiatives.
  16. Participate in departmental and program meetings as a spokesperson.
  17. Ensure emergency response readiness within the department.

What You Will Bring

  1. Post-secondary education or equivalent, with 15 years of aviation experience, including 5 years in a supervisory role.
  2. Extensive knowledge of aircraft inspection, overhaul processes, and production planning.
  3. Familiarity with budget processes and people management skills; union experience is a plus.
  4. Excellent communication skills in writing and speaking.
  5. Strong planning, organizational, and multitasking abilities.
  6. Ability to handle stressful situations in a fast-paced environment.
  7. Proficiency in MS Office tools.
  8. Eligibility for Canadian Controlled Goods Program, Secret Level II Security Clearance, and Transport Canada RAIC clearance.
