Job Purpose:
The Operations Supervisor is a natural leader with a strong operations background and a passion for developing teams and improving processes. Duties & Responsibilities:
- Support company Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) by proactively contributing to initiatives that drive strategic goals and organizational success.
- Supervise the Barrie Operations team in their daily activities, including:
- Arranging transport of import and export FTL and LTL shipments within and between Canada and the USA.
- Negotiating rates with Carriers.
- Quoting Customers.
- Tracking shipments.
- Communicating shipment details with customers and agents.
- Submitting documents to Customs Brokers.
- Arranging local pickups and deliveries.
- Calculating revenue and costs on shipment files.
Set clear expectations for efficiency, accuracy, and proactive problem-solving in all aspects of transport operations, including routing, support, communication, and billing.
Participate in developing and implementing KPI goals, policies, and priorities for the operations department as directed by management.
Coach, mentor, and support team members to achieve and exceed KPIs, performance goals, and customer service standards.
Monitor performance, provide feedback, coaching, and manage performance to ensure continuous improvement.
Identify skills gaps, implement cross-training, and foster professional development to ensure full team competency.
Create a customer-first culture emphasizing responsiveness, communication, and proactive issue resolution.
Collaborate with leadership to align operations with company goals, improve efficiency, and support strategic initiatives.
Analyze operational metrics to identify improvement areas and implement solutions to optimize efficiency.

Professional & Educational Background:
- 10+ years of transportation or freight forwarding experience
- 4+ years of leadership in people management or operations
- Experience with TMS and EDI systems
- Knowledge of Customs procedures and cross-border practices
- Experience with LTL/FTL systems and deliveries to distribution centers
- Knowledge of port and rail operations, airline cargo terminals, and freight assets
- Experience with CargoWise and Loadlink (assets)
- Post-secondary education in Supply Chain Management (assets)
- Certifications in Dangerous Goods transportation (assets)
