Intermediate Lines Design Engineer

PHASOR Engineering Inc. is a dynamic consulting firm specializing in the engineering and design of overhead & underground transmission/distribution systems, substations, fibre optics, as well as substation and transmission foundations. Our expertise allows us to be involved in a diverse range of projects from conceptual engineering through to commissioning and startup.

We are currently seeking a highly motivated Intermediate Lines Design Engineer to join our Calgary engineering team. We offer a dynamic work environment with an experienced technical team, where you will be involved in all aspects of the engineering and design process.

Responsibilities

• Assist in designing overhead and underground power delivery systems ranging from 4kV to 500kV, including creating detailed scopes and estimates, performing calculations, and developing design drawings following applicable standards and codes.
• Interact with internal and external contacts for design details.
• Support Professional Engineers with technical studies, calculations, cost estimates, equipment specifications, and installation standards.
• Develop material and construction specifications.
• Provide procurement support, material take-offs, requisitions, and technical evaluations.
• Develop overhead and underground structures and equipment placement.
• Design and evaluate electrical equipment components.
• Collaborate with Telecom designers on fibre design for joint-use applications.
• Prepare design packages for client review and construction.
• Escalate design issues to Professional Engineers for review and guidance.
• Perform calculations related to overhead and underground systems.
• Review designs for accuracy, perform quality control, and ensure readiness for project release.
• Support project coordination activities and documentation.
• Assist in preparing bids and proposals.
• Provide construction support.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Electrical/Civil Engineering Technology or Degree in Electrical/Civil Engineering.
• Experience in design and construction is an asset.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applications.
• Familiarity with power system operations, practices, and standards is preferred.
• Valid Class 5 Driver's License.
