We're Hiring: Vice President (VP) of Growth

Pocketride | Equity-Based | Remote/Hybrid | Canadian Startup | Impact-Driven Leadership

Are you a seasoned growth strategist who thrives in fast-paced environments and dreams of building something meaningful from the ground up?

Pocketride is Canada’s first AI-powered ride-hailing platform designed exclusively for rurban (rural + urban) communities. Backed by TechAlliance, Communitech, and a strong network of local and institutional partners, we’re addressing the mobility gap in areas long ignored by traditional players.

With over 3,000+ customers on the waitlist and 100+ drivers onboarded, we’re preparing to launch — and we need a Vice President of Growth to lead the charge.

About the Role

As the VP of Growth, you’ll be a core member of the leadership team, reporting directly to the CEO and collaborating with VPs of Tech, HR, Admin, Finance, and Marketing. Your role? Drive the company’s regional expansion, build scalable growth systems, and lead our growing team of interns and associates across:

  • Business Development (BD) – Local outreach, partnerships, and onboarding
  • Business Analysis (BA) – Market research, analytics, financial modeling
  • Investment & Outreach – Grant writing, investor due diligence, pitch readiness

This is a high-impact equity-based role — ideal for someone who wants meaningful ownership in a venture solving real-world problems in real communities.

Key Responsibilities Strategic Growth Leadership
  • Design and execute full-funnel growth playbooks for user acquisition and market penetration.
  • Identify underserved geographies and lead expansion initiatives across Canadian provinces.
  • Set and track OKRs/KPIs for growth projects and interdepartmental milestones.
Team Leadership & Mentorship
  • Lead, coach, and support cross-functional intern teams in BD, BA, and Investor Relations.
  • Establish feedback loops, knowledge-sharing cadences, and performance goals.
Partnerships & Stakeholder Management
  • Secure partnerships with local governments, institutions, businesses, and community networks.
  • Lead negotiation and onboarding of strategic partners, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
Go-to-Market (GTM) Strategy & Regional Launches
  • Spearhead the regional launch roadmap, starting with Sarnia-Lambton, including GTM planning, partner collaboration, and post-launch performance.
  • Work closely with Marketing and Product to align campaigns and feature updates with user acquisition goals.
Analytics & Optimization
  • Build dashboards and performance tracking tools using Power BI, Airtable, and HubSpot.
  • Leverage data to reduce acquisition costs, improve retention, and unlock new revenue streams.
Investor Readiness & Grant Enablement
  • Collaborate with the CEO and Finance team on pitch decks, investor outreach, grant proposals, and reporting.
  • Support due diligence processes and alignment with Canadian innovation programs (e.g., NSERC, MITACS, OCI).
Ideal Candidate Profile
  • 6–12 years of experience in strategic growth, partnerships, business development, or expansion roles in startups or high-growth environments.
  • Strong leadership experience — managing cross-functional teams, overseeing project pipelines, and mentoring junior talent.
  • Proven success launching products, entering new markets, or scaling services.
  • Expertise with tools like HubSpot, Salesforce, Power BI, Airtable, Asana, Google Analytics, etc.
  • Comfortable wearing multiple hats and working closely with founders and other department heads.
  • Bonus:
  • Experience with mobility, logistics, or marketplace startups.
  • Familiarity with Canadian grant ecosystems and investor due diligence.
  • Exposure to rural, non-urban, or community-based GTM strategies.
Why Join Pocketride?
  • Meaningful Impact: Help thousands in underserved communities get safe, reliable, and affordable transportation.
  • Startup Equity: Earn real ownership and build long-term value with a mission-led company.
  • Work With Founders: Direct collaboration with CEO and senior leadership.
  • Backed by Leaders: We’re supported by innovation ecosystems like TechAlliance, Communitech, and Innovation Factory.
